Český Krumlov Castle tickets and hours

Much of Český Krumlov Castle is free to walk, but the interiors, the tower and the Baroque Theatre each need their own ticket, and the guided tours only run in season. Here is what to buy and when.

Český Krumlov Castle is the second largest castle complex in the Czech Republic after Prague Castle, with five courtyards spread along a rock above the Vltava. Most day trips walk you through the courtyards for free; the interiors are another matter.

Prices below are the castle's own 2026 rates in Czech crowns (CZK).

The quick answer

The courtyards and the Cloak Bridge are free to walk, and the castle garden is free in season. Tour Route I (the Renaissance and Baroque interiors, 55 minutes) costs 300 CZK and runs April 1 to October 31, Tuesday to Sunday. The self-guided Castle Museum and Tower ticket is 280 CZK. Among day trips from Prague, Cedok, the Martin Tour and the private tour include castle entry.

What can you see at the castle for free?

The five courtyards, the Cloak Bridge and, in season, the castle garden are free to visit.

This is what most day-trip guided walks cover: the painted facades of the courtyards, the bear moat, the arches of the Cloak Bridge and the views down over the town. The 17th-century Baroque garden lies beyond the fifth courtyard, with the Bellaria summer house.

How much is Tour Route I?

300 CZK full price, 240 CZK for ages 18 to 24 and over 65, 90 CZK for ages 6 to 17, and free under 6.

Route I covers the Renaissance and Baroque interiors from the 16th to 18th centuries, including the Castle Chapel of St. George and the painted Masquerade Hall. It lasts 55 minutes, takes up to 45 people per tour and runs at set times. Route II is the other 55-minute tour, about the Schwarzenberg family and their portrait gallery, for 260 CZK. Under-6s go free on both. Prices are on the castle's admission page.

When is the castle open?

Tour Route I runs April 1 to October 31, Tuesday to Sunday: 9 AM to 4 PM in spring and autumn, and to 5 PM in June, July and August.

There are no guided interior tours on Mondays or between November and March. The castle museum and tower stay open into November and December, Tuesday to Sunday, so a winter visit still gets you the view.

What is the Baroque Theatre?

One of the best-preserved Baroque theatres in Europe, with its original stage machinery and sets, seen on its own guided tour.

Tours run Tuesday to Sunday at fixed times (10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00 in autumn 2026) with 20 people at most, and the castle asks you to reserve. A ticket is 400 CZK, 320 CZK for ages 18 to 24 and over 65, and 120 CZK for ages 6 to 17. Times and dates are on the official theatre page. On a day trip it is hard to fit in; save it for a night in town.

Is the Castle Tower worth climbing?

Yes, for the classic view over the river loop and the roofs; the self-guided museum and tower ticket is 280 CZK.

The painted Renaissance tower is the town's landmark. The visit is self-guided, so you do not have to wait for a guided slot, which helps if your free time is short.

Which day trips from Prague include castle entry?

Cedok includes castle admission in the summer season, the Martin Tour a guided interior tour from April 1 to October 31, and the private tour with lunch the public interior tour.

The small-group tour, the Holašovice tour and the lowest-priced trip do not. One small-group guest paid separately for the interior tour during free time and found it very interesting; another noted there is no time for both the castle and a long lunch.

Can you fit the castle interior into a day trip?

Yes, if you make it your priority: the 55-minute tour fits into two hours of free time, with a quick lunch.

Buy your ticket as soon as the guided walk ends, eat near the castle, and skip the long sit-down lunch. If you would rather not juggle it, book a tour that includes the interiors. See Český Krumlov in one day for a plan.

What if you visit on a Monday or in winter?

You will not see the interiors on any tour; enjoy the free courtyards, the tower and the town instead.

Cedok and Martin swap castle entry for a three-course Czech lunch in winter. One private-tour guest visiting in January noted that the castle was closed for the winter, so check before you book if the interiors matter.
